The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, e-mail address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. Although not obliged to do so (this is a US law), I do not collect full names, telephone numbers or home addresses from anyone who visits my site, be they a child or an adult.
Collection of personally identifiable information
No personally identifiable information is ever collected from visitors using my web site UNLESS you actively choose to contact me using my online contact form or directly by e-mail. In either case:
- Collecting your name and e-mail address will enable me to respond to your enquiry. If you contact me directly by e-mail, your IP address is not recorded. Your e-mail address and the content of your e-mail or the contact form may be kept indefinitely, but never disclosed to a third party unless the content is malicious. Legitimate users may rest assured that the contents of their communication will remain private.
- Collecting your IP address when you submit my online contact form gives me some way to identify visitors who try to send malicious content without entering a valid e-mail address. This is the only time your IP address is collected. Your IP address and form content may be kept indefinitely, but never disclosed to a third party unless the content is malicious. Legitimate users of my online contact form may rest assured that the form contents will remain private.
Your e-mail address is requested in order to contact you regarding your query or to deliver web design or maintenance services requested by you (the customer). Any information entered is entirely voluntary on your part. An e-mail address is required for me to respond to feedback or questions submitted through my contact form and is deleted once a response has been made. Personal information (such as your email address) is never sold, traded or passed on to third parties for any reason – ever. No other personal information is recorded or kept by me unless you choose to use my Web Design Services. In this case, I will keep a paper record of your name, address and telephone number solely for contacting you / discussing your needs and the progress of the work in hand / invoicing you. I will keep your email address and FTP details on my computer until my services are no longer required. This information will then be deleted from my computer and will need to be resupplied by you if you choose to use my services again in the future.
You can add to/amend/request deletion of your personal information simply by using the information provided on my Contact Page.
